Chances are that if you’re reading this, you first did a Google search to get some opinions on the best barbecue glove for outdoor cooking. Equally probable is finding an article I wrote back in 2009 reviewing and recommending a daunting, industrial looking glove, the Ansell Neox Neoprene Glove.
Our best selling barbecue accessory
As a result of that article, we have sold hundreds of pairs of a glove that very few would
have found elsewhere, and we’ve had more email from readers extolling the greatness of these amazing gloves for grilling and barbecuing than for any other reviewed or recommended barbecue accessory.
Now, four years later, then only thing that has changed is the price, and it’s come way down. They are still the best gloves I’ve ever had, and mine are now about six years old and are used weekly.
Pick up white hot coals safely
I did a short video where I picked up some white hot coals with the gloves and held them for about 30 seconds with absolutely no sensation of heat in my hands. I didn’t publish it because 1) liability concerns..you know…idiots trying it with lesser gloves, and 2) because it did melt a little of the neoprene so it’s not a good idea to make that a habit.
Total protection from sizzling grills and meats
What you can do is pick up anything on the grill including the hot grill itself, and any food to move it, slice it, turn it, wrap it, or serve it without any chance of being burned. Try that with the popular Steve Raichelin glove that costs the same or more. I did, and I’ve got burned out fingers and melt marks all over them. As much as I like many of Rachelin’s products, especially his Marinade Turbocharger, this is not one of them.
Industrial strength yet FDA food compliant
These BBQ gloves are made and rated for industrial work, such as handling chemicals, oil, acid, and alcohols, but are compliant with FDA food handling regulations, per the manufacturer’s website. They are sold to the military, police and fire, and oil refineries, but they are also the glove of choice for many competitive barbecue teams.
Lined for comfort and dishwasher safe
They’re also comfortable to wear as they’re lined, and clean up with soap and water. Or….as I often do after handling a brisket or turkey, just throw ‘em in the dishwasher. They clean up nice there;-)
They are not terribly flexible, so I wear a lighter pair of latex gloves when doing fine carving, like with a flank steak. Usually they’re fine, however.
Get a pair for yourself
You can buy them direct, but you’ll have to buy at least 12 pairs. If you can keep two gloves together, you may only need one pair for a lifetime. Order a pair now. You will love them-and I might even get a thank you note from you!
